About us.
Studio Moubou is a creative studio based in Sweden founded by artists Emma Parkinson(b,1983. SE) and Jan Steven Parkinson( b,1978. IE).
Studio Moubou works across sculpture, installation, illustration, animation and collage using digital technologies.
Through the interplay of chaos and order, Studio Moubou unveils the hidden beauty and harmony that emerges from the collision of seemingly opposing forces. The juxtaposition of solid and metamorphic elements creates a dynamic tension, and highlights the individual artists differences.
Emma Parkinson, has always been fascinated by the surreal and obscure. Parkinson's imagery is often fantastical in nature featuring anthropomorphised animals and objects. In her art she seeks out materials and methods that has an unpredictability to them.
Jan Steven Parkinson on the other hand is guided by structure and control.
Drawing inspiration from brutalist architecture, post modernistic shapes and science fiction sets, Stevens precision crafted artworks evoke a sense of fascination for the past while envisioning an otherworldly future, creating a bridge between the familiar and the unknown.
By merging the wild and the controlled, Studio Moubou captures the raw energy of untamed elements while maintaining a sense of deliberate composition. Through the exploration of the real and the unreal, they challenge the viewer to question their perception of reality and delve into the world of alternate realities.
